Chickpea flour and turmeric powder both play a vital role in Ayurvedic skincare. These two humble panty ingredients combine to make a face pack that is highly effective for brightening and smoothing the skin. This face pack is traditionally used in Indian brides before their wedding ceremonies to enhance their skin radiance. When chickpea flour and turmeric are used together, they offer a synergistic beauty effect:

> Deep Cleansing: This combination deeply cleanses the skin to remove impurities and unclog pores.

> Brightening and Even Tone: Regular use can result in a more radiant complexion and even skin tone.

> Acne Control: Both ingredients help in controlling oil, and thus they can be helpful in fighting acne-causing bacteria.

> Skin Smoothness: They work together to gently exfoliate dead skin cells, and thus promoting silky smooth skin.

Skin Brightening Face Pack

What you will need:

> 1 tbsp chickpea flour

> 1/8 tsp (or a pinch) of turmeric powder (be mindful not to use too much or the skin will turn orange)

> 1/2 tsp honey (helps to offset the drying effects of besan flour - you may like to add more if you have dry/ mature skin)

> Enough rose water (or filtered water) to form a medium consistency paste that’s not to thick but not so runny that it slides off the face

How to: Apply the paste to clean skin and leave it to set for no more than 5 - 8 mins max. Do not allow the mask to dry too much or it will become too hard to remove. Gently rinse off with lukewarm water, tone with rose water and moisturise with a nourishing oil for glowing, smooth and refreshed skin.

Note: There is no one size fits all when it comes to Ayurvedic skin care and reactions can occur to natural ingredients. Always test patch new ingredients before applying to the face. This mask contains exfoliating properties so I do not apply it more than 1-2 x per month.
